PODCASTS EXPLORING POP CULTURE, FANDOM, AND THE EXPERIENCE THAT SHAPE US.
The Nerd Room
More than 500 episodes. More than a decade of fandom.
Since 2015, The Nerd Room has been exploring the worlds of Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and beyond.
Hosted and produced by Tim Truax, the podcast has grown into one of Canada's longest-running independent fandom shows, with more than 500 episodes produced over the last decade.
What began as a creative outlet became the foundation for Nerd Room Studios, inspiring new projects, live experiences, and a community built around the stories that bring people together.
Because fandom is always better when it's shared.
THE NERD ROOM RETURNS THIS SUMMER
Fandom - COMING 2027
Every fan has a story.
Fandom is a documentary-style video podcast exploring the powerful connection between people and the stories, characters, teams, worlds, and communities they love.
Hosted by Tim Truax, each episode goes beyond what someone is a fan of and explores why it matters. Through candid conversations and cinematic storytelling, guests share the moments, experiences, and connections that shaped their identity, created a sense of belonging, or helped them navigate life's challenges.
From comic books and movies to sports, gaming, music, and beyond, Fandom reveals how our passions become part of who we are.
Funded through the TELUS STORYHIVE Video Podcast Program, Fandom shines a light on the deeply human stories behind fandom, stories of community, resilience, inspiration, and connection.
Because this isn't just about what we love.
It's about who we become because of it.
Meet Your Host: Tim Truax
Tim Truax is a podcast host, producer, and community builder based in Calgary, Canada.
For more than a decade, Tim has been creating conversations around pop culture, shared passions, and community through podcasting. In 2015, he launched The Nerd Room, a pop culture podcast that has grown to more than 500 episodes and established itself as one of Canada's longest-running independent fandom podcasts.
His passion for bringing people together through shared interests led him building PodSummit, Canada's podcast event. Since 2023, PodSummit has welcomed podcasters, creators, industry leaders, and storytellers from across the country, building a vibrant community centered on collaboration, creativity, and meaningful connection.
Outside of podcasting, Tim works as an exploration leader in the energy industry, where curiosity, discovery, and understanding complex stories are also at the heart of his work.
Through the new podcast, Fandom, Tim will combine his experience as a host, storyteller, and community builder to explore a simple question: What happens when the things we love become part of who we are? His goal is to create thoughtful conversations that go beyond fandom itself and uncover the personal stories, relationships, and life experiences that shape us.
Whether the conversation is about movies, sports, music, gaming, books, or any other passion, Tim believes that every fan has a story worth telling.
